Fossil Fracas: Hunters and Hunted

Chilotherium and Adcrocuta, Digital, 2021


Chole the Chilotherium and Aziz the Adcrocuta represent two species locked into a deadly struggle. The rhino and hyena both search for water and sustenance among the drought of the Kyrgyz plains, now deserts with the late arrival of the rains. This does, unfortunately, lead one to attack the other.

    Megalonyx was one of few Ground Sloths that made their mark on the East Coast. While being around the size of a large Grizzly Bear, these animals were probably much heavier. As browsers, their long arms and claws aided them in defense and forage.
